Dear Hannah,

This was a big week! The Board of Public Accountancy voted last week to extend the June 30 deadline for even-year license renewals and CPE requirements to September 30, 2020, and to extend the firm affidavit deadline to November 2, 2020. We are grateful to the Board members and the Division of Professional Licensure staff for their efforts and for working with us to provide much needed relief to our members during this time.
 
On the Society front, I'd like to thank everyone who voted to approve the 2020-21 Board officers and first-year directors! For more information about this newly-elected group, click here. This vote solidifies our 2020-21 Board of Directors, and I'm proud to officially introduce the new roster:

Paycheck Protection Program's FAQs
The Small Business Administration (SBA) released an updated version of the Paycheck Protection Program's FAQs on Tuesday to include Question 48, which clarifies the deadline for lenders to complete the initial SBA Form 1502 reporting. For the full list of the PPP FAQs, click here. We expect additional guidance from the SBA in the coming days and will update you as soon as possible.

DGC (DICICCO, GULMAN & COMPANY LLP), Boston/Woburn, announced that STEPHEN MINSON, CPA, MST, MATTHEW MULRONEY, CPA, MST and SAHRI ZEGAR, JD, MBA hosted a webinar entitled, "COVID-19 Related Tax Strategies for Businesses and Individuals." The firm also announced that GEORGE SHAW, CPA gave a presentation to the NE500 Club discussing the tax implications of the CARES Act relating to net operating losses.

JOHNSON O'CONNOR, Wakefield, announced that PATRICK BEVINGTON, CPA MST, KRISTOPHER HEBERT CPA MSA and RICHARD O'CONNOR, CPA MST were panelists of a complimentary real estate webinar hosted by BOMA Boston in April regarding key tax provisions and business practices during uncertain times.

TONNESON + CO, Wakefield, announced that the firm donated approximately 700 KN95 masks and over 2,000 three-Ply Surgical masks to first responders, local hospitals and nonprofit organizations. KN95 and 3-ply surgical masks were donated to the Wakefield Fire Department, Wakefield Police Department, Melrose Wakefield Hospital, Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, Care Dimensions and Tewksbury State Hospital. The firm also donated three-ply surgical masks to Catie's Closet and the Wakefield Food Pantry.

The COVID-19 pandemic is presenting challenges and opportunities for the accounting profession. Barry Melancon, CPA, CGMA, president and CEO of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), will discuss how the profession is addressing disruption and reimagining its services to remain trusted advisers in a complex, rapidly changing world.
